Kevin is best known for Channel 4’s hit TV series Grand Designs and it’s spin-offs Grand Designs Magazine, Grand Designs Live, and of course the Grand Designs Awards.

After studying history of art and architecture at Cambridge University, Kevin worked as a theatre designer, and went on to supervise the design and restoration of Harrods food halls in 1985. In 1987, he founded his own bespoke lighting design and manufacturing business.

In 2006 Kevin formed Hab Housing. In partnership, the company is now working on sustainable housing projects in Swindon and Stroud. He also devised and launched the Great British Refurb, a campaign between several institutions, retailers and government, to promote the retrofitting of Britain’s 26 million homes to low-energy standards.

He recently published 43 Principles of Home – Enjoying Life In The 21st Century which covers the thorny issue of sustainability and culture change.

Kevin says...
“There are awards, and then there are the Grand Designs Awards. These are the awards that really matter, that are wide-reaching, and that are supported by some of the finest and most authoritative judges in the country. They are widely respected and the projects that win are truly first-class. They’re awards that connect with the public. They’re about people who have passion – who create and enter their projects, and it’s great to reward such dedication.”
